MANDALAY AND AMARAPOORA
This city was once a kingdom until the Britishers exiled the king who was finally laid to rest in Ratnagiri (India). The palace was destroyed, and now remade except not with the original teak wood. Mandalay Hill Pagoda displays a beautiful view of the Palace and a lot of Mandalay city. You will see many stupas, pagodas amidst lush green landscape. You will see the local dress embroidery and the gold leaf industry. The Maha Muni Pagoda hosts a 1,500-year-old Buddha statue which is anointed with gold leaf all day and night. The statue is now of 15 Tonnes solid gold and growing daily.
You will also see the World’s longest Teak Wood Bridge (U Bein) which is best seen at sunset. This bridge spans 1.2km.
